Explorer personality types are true artists, which is not to say that they are painters in the usual sense of gleefully going out into the countryside to paint a few small trees. But they are usually adept at it. They will use aesthetics, design, and even choices and actions to break the social norm. Explorer personality types like to subvert conventional expectations by experimenting with aesthetic and behavioral aspects. It's likely that they've said "Don't control me!" more than once.
Happy with who they are
"Explorers live in a colorful and sensual world, and are inspired by connections to people and ideas. They enjoy reinterpreting these connections, experimenting and re-inventing with themselves and new perspectives. No one enjoys exploring and experiencing in this way more than they do. This creates a spontaneity that makes "explorers" seem unpredictable, even to close friends and loved ones.
Even so, Explorers are unapologetic introverts, and can surprise their friends when they retreat into the background to nurture themselves. But just because they're alone doesn't mean they're sitting around; they use this time to reflect, review and reevaluate their own beliefs. They prefer to think about themselves in the here and now as opposed to dwelling on the past or the future. And then they come back from where they left off.
"Explorers like to find ways to unleash their passions. They are more likely than other personality types to engage in risky behavior, such as gambling and extreme sports. Fortunately, their attunement to their surroundings makes them better at these than others. "Explorers also love to socialize and have a charisma that is hard to resist.
However, if they are hurt by criticism, the results can be disastrous. Some "explorers" can take kindly worded comments as another perspective to help point their passions in a new direction. But if the comments are mean and don't hold up to scrutiny, they will lash out.
"Explorers are sensitive to the feelings of others and value harmony. When confronted with criticism, it is difficult for them to step aside and calm down away from the "center of the storm". But living in the moment has its benefits, and once they've calmed down from an argument, they can usually move on as if it never happened.
Meaning in every corner of life
"The biggest challenge an Explorer faces is planning for the future. Finding constructive ideas to support their goals and planning goals that set positive principles is not easy for them. Unlike other personality types, Explorers don't plan for the future in terms of assets and retirement. They shape their identities by planning actions and behaviors, building portfolios made up of life experiences rather than stocks.
If these plans and tenets are noble, "explorers" can act very selflessly. But they can also build a more self-centered identity, behaving selfishly, controllingly and exclusively for their own benefit and not for the benefit of others. It's crucial to always remember to take the initiative to grow into the person you want to be. Developing and maintaining a new habit can be difficult, but taking time each day to understand their own motivations will enable Explorers to use their strengths to pursue whatever they desire.
